Taylormade

Danny first joined forces with TaylorMade Golf in December 2010, when he was a sophomore in high school. He was already using TaylorMade clubs at the time, but he had no idea golf equipment companies actually sought out top junior players for their sponsorship programs. Jason Werner was the TaylorMade-adidas rep who asked Danny to join the company's team, and Danny has used TaylorMade clubs/balls and worn adidas shoes/apparel ever since. Jason quickly became a a trusted adviser and friend to Danny, helping him with club selection and proper fitting throughout his junior career. When Jason switched positions internally and took a job at the TaylorMade Kingdom in Carlsbad, Calif., Danny visited him while he was in the area for the Junior World Championships. Danny received the PGA Tour player treatment, working with various TaylorMade-adidas personnel during a day-long fitting session. During that visit to the Kingdom, Danny met Tim Huet, who founded TaylorMade's collegiate program as well as the TaylorMade Developmental Pro Initiative, which was created to help college players make the adjustment to pro golf. Tim, who was inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame in 2014, offered insights and expertise that were invaluable to Danny, especially during the college recruitment process and his transition from junior golf to playing at Wake Forest. In addition to Jason and Tim, Ryan Ressa is another member of the TaylorMade-adidas team who has been an incredible resource for Danny. Ryan became Danny's rep as Danny was finishing up his junior career and making the jump to college golf, and, like Jason and Tim, he became a trusted friend and supporter. Ryan has always made sure Danny has everything he needs to succeed. "I'm so grateful for all of the help and support I've received from TaylorMade-adidas Golf, but I'm especially fortunate that I've had the chance to work with Jason, Tim and Ryan over the years. They have been there for me whenever I needed something, and I can't thank them enough for all of their help and guidance. I've never even considered switching clubs or balls, and the only time I've worn something other than adidas shoes and clothes and TaylorMade hats is when I was required to wear Wake Forest team gear at college tournaments. TaylorMade and adidas have been perfect fits for me."

PAR BAR

In April 2016, Danny's grandmother, Gloria Guise, was having a phone conversation with a business colleague when the subject of Danny turning pro came up. The colleague wanted to know how Danny was doing and then mentioned he had a friend who had just unveiled a first-of-its-kind nutrition bar designed specifically for golfers at the 2016 PGA Show in Orlando. Gloria's business colleague offered to introduce Danny to Gerry Mullally, a food scientist who is the founder and owner of Par Bar. When he reached out to Gerry and mentioned Danny's name, Gerry said he knew all about Danny. As a Connecticut resident, Gerry was aware of Danny's junior golf career. More importantly, he had seen what Danny and his Wake Forest teammates had accomplished in April 2015 during a college golf tournament at Yale Golf Club, where he is a member. Danny fired a final-round 67 to finish third individually, helping Wake shoot 15-under as a team for the tournament and beat runner-up Clemson by a jaw-dropping 28 strokes. Fast forward a little more than a year after that tournament—Danny and Gerry were introduced, they spoke on the phone and decided to get together for a round of golf at Yale Golf Club. Par Bars have been in Danny's bag ever since, with the Par Bar logo proudly displayed on his hats and his golf bag. "I've been looking for the right thing to eat during a round forever, and I've tried so many different bars," Danny said. "Gerry is an amazing guy, and he told some great stories that day we played at Yale. He had sent me some bars to try before we met. The bottom line was I had to like them. The most important part of my conversation with him that day was my feedback about the bars. I really love the taste, and I feel great during the round. I pace out some bites of the bar every few holes, and I never feel hungry. I no longer worry about what to eat and when to eat it." Gerry asked Danny to serve as ambassador of sorts for Par Bar, spreading the word about it to fellow pro golfers as well as tournament directors, club teaching pros, coaches and anyone else he comes in contact with during his travels.

BROOKWOOD CAMPS

Ken and Donna Fiedler purchased Brookwood Camps in 1986 and immediately set out to make it one of the premier summer camps in the country. Ken, who won two New York City championships as the coach of the boys basketball team at Springfield Gardens High School in Queens (where two of his more notable players were former New York Knicks star Anthony Mason and former St. John's University head basketball coach Norm Roberts), and Donna, a former art teacher in the New York City public school system, upgraded and expanded the facilities on the property in Glen Spey, N.Y., about 100 miles northwest of New York City, and increased the number of programs available to campers. After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis, where he was the captain of the men's basketball team, the Fiedler's eldest son, Scott, dabbled in college coaching before joining the Brookwood staff full-time. Scott founded The Sports Academy at Brookwood Camps, which offers week-long programs that focus on specific sports in addition to the traditional sleep-away camp experience. With Ken's health failing, Scott took on an even bigger role in running the camp. His younger brother, Jay, a standout in football and track and field at Dartmouth College who went on to play 10 years in the NFL (including five seasons as the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins), joined him as co-director of Brookwood camps in 2013. Together Scott and Jay have continued to upgrade and expand Brookwood Camps. Ken, who passed away in January after a long illness, and Donna were dear friends of Danny's grandparents, Joe and Jo Guise, long before Danny was even born. Shortly after Ken's funeral, Danny's father, Joe, and Scott had a chance to catch up. They reminisced about their fathers' friendship, a bond forged on their mutual love of basketball, and hatched an idea to bring Danny on board to run The Sports Academy at Brookwood Camps' first-ever Golf Week. The golf camp made its debut in mid-July 2016, and Scott and Jay plan to make it an annual offering for campers. "I had a great time at Brookwood," Danny said. "I was there when I was very young. I was maybe 7 or 8, and I went with my parents and grandparents. I couldn't believe how different it looked when I went back this summer. They have done an incredible job with the camp. I really enjoyed working with kids, and I loved sharing my passion for golf. I'm grateful to Scott and Jay for giving me the opportunity. It was an incredible experience, and I can't wait to do it again next year."
